Luke 22:19-20 and 1 Corinthians 11:23-25 record the institution of the Lord's Supper, presenting both Luke's Gospel account and Paul's apostolic instruction to the Corinthian church. Writing to the Corinthians in the sixth decade of the first century, Paul provides the first written account we have of Jesus' last evening with his disciples. His description, like the similar Synoptic accounts, shows how deeply this memory shaped the early church.
