Jesus heals the paralytic man let down from the roof by his friends to illustrate that he has authority not only to heal, but to forgive sins. When the four friends couldn't reach Jesus through the crowd, they climbed onto the roof, dug through the tiles, and lowered their paralyzed friend directly in front of Him.
