This verse reminds the Israelites that their moral and ethical behavior should reflect the divine character of God, who is holy. At first glance, holiness might seem like a list of dos and don'ts. However, it's so much more than that. It's about embodying the character of God in our daily actions, thoughts, and decisions. It's about being set apart for a unique purpose that aligns with God's will. The passage teaches that God's people are called to be distinct not for exclusion's sake, but to reflect God's own holy nature and serve as a light to the nations.
