Jesus takes Peter, James, and John up a high mountain where He is dramatically transformed before them. His face shone like the sun, and His clothes became as white as the light, revealing His divine glory that had been veiled in His humanity. In the transfiguration Moses and Elijah appear and talk with the Lord. Moses represents the Law, and Elijah the Prophets; Moses represents those who have died in the Lord, and Elijah those who have not. The appearance of these two Old Testament figures confirmed that Jesus was the fulfillment of all Scripture. Peter, overwhelmed by the moment, suggests building three shelters to commemorate the experience.
