This week at Lakeview

October UMM Breakfast/Meeting

The LUMM met on Saturday, October 6th for our monthly free breakfast and business meeting. One of the highlights for myself at this meeting is giving the men’s group the recommendations for our donations to Heifer International for the month. This month I met with Jesse Thompson and Denny Lockmon to form those recommendations. We had $153.00 to work with and the choices were as follows:

  • For $60 – A Trio of RabbitsRabbits Reward
  • For $50 – A Hope Basket (chickens & rabbits)
  • For $20 – A Flock of Chicks
  • and For $20 – A Flock of Geese

This was approved by the LUMM Membership. What does this mean? It means 4 more poor and hungry families will have the chance to pull themselves out of hunger and poverty. Through the years, by “Passing the Gift”, 36 or more families will benefit from this gift.

All of this is done with your donations to the “Heifer Project”. Thank you all so very much.

I was pleased to learn that someone else is watching our progress. Here are the highlights I received in an e-mail from Bryan Gammon from Heifer International.

“I wanted you to know we really appreciate the support from you all in Sun City.  It seems like there’s a new donation every day.  Please know we are aware of your awesome donors and we really value your commitment to our mission.  All the best to you and your congregation.”
