Mission & Outreach Updates for Feb. 2021

M.A.N.A. House Needs Breakfast Foods Items

manahouseIndividual Servings of cold and hot cereals, juice boxes, canned fruit, hot cocoa, sweet rolls, and sweet breads, and donuts are asked for and much appreciated.

Due to the various working hours of the men a cold breakfast menu has been adopted and due to COVID-19, all items have to be disposable and individual servings.

When you donate the items for MANA House PLEASE, mark on the folded bag that it is for MANA House. Loose items of food are just assumed they are for Valley View Food Bank.

Thanks so much for your help and CARING for these recovering Vets on their way to independent living.

JUSTA Center Lunches Are A Huge Success

On the Third Friday of every month the Mission and Outreach Committee takes a HOT lunch down to JUSTA Center – the homeless day center for Senior Citizens. In December we took a homemade Hot Chili Lunch, chips and dessert. In January it was homemade Soup and Bread with dessert. In February we are planning to take BBQ Pork Sandwiches, Cole Slaw, and Vegetable Soup with chips and dessert. Our goal is to feed the homeless and give them good nutritious food that lets them know we care.

Valley View Food Bank Needs Your Help – ALWAYS!!

Valley View Food BankThe need for canned food at Valley View Food Bank never ceases as the increase in those who are losing their jobs continues. Basic Staples are always needed but, those that are in plastic bags, not paper bags (they break). So, the next time you are shopping please pick up a bag or two of sugar, in a plastic bag (it can be brown sugar), corn starch, baking soda, baking powder, basic spices; salt & pepper, items that we have at home and just always have there when we need them!! Be kind and think of what we have and what you would need starting out with nothing. THANK YOU.

Habitat for Humanity

habitat-for-humanity-logoThey are waiting on building permits before starting their Spring builds and will be doing them with reduced crews due to the COVID-19 crisis. We will provide lunches as we are permitted to do so under their guidelines.

UMOM Needs Gently Used Bibles and Devotionals

UMOMLogoThe United Methodist Outreach Mission or UMOM is in need of Gently Used English and Spanish Bibles for the people they are caring for at this time.

They are also in great need of devotionals that you have that you are no longer using that are gently used. If you have any Children’s Bibles or Stories about Jesus and his Disciples they would be greatly appreciated as well.

Literacy is an important part of UMOM and reading the Word of God is a good place to start. Please bring your books to the church office and we will have a box INSIDE for the books and devotionals. Thank you for your generosity and helping to spread the word of God.
