A Wesleyan View of Grace

Jeremiah 31:3, Romans 5:8, Ephesians 2:4-9

If God Love us, how does he express that love? It is not through prosperity or physical blessings (though that sometimes happens) but by the “means of grace” which are varied and multi-layered. There is one grace described with the characteristics; Prevenient, Justifying, and Sanctifying. These three components help inform us and help us identify where God is at work.

God calls us and loves us because he created us. But, how do we realize his love. In prevenient grace, God goes ahead of us and often prepares us to hear and know. Justifying grace is the action of Jesus that frees us from sin and the guilt of sin. Sanctifying grace moves us to respond and to become the holy people God calls us to be. In addition, God uses other “means of grace” like communion, baptism, relationships, serving for us to know and sense his presence and blessing.
