As mentioned previously, the Mission & Outreach Committee has elected to move our usual Habitat for Humanity giving campaign from the fall to spring. This is in an effort to spread our campaigns throughout the year, as we have multiple holiday campaigns at the end of the year.
This year’s campaign will run from Thursday, April 1 to Monday, May 3. As with last year, no coin boxes will be distributed, but giving envelopes will be made available within the church office and sanctuary.
Of course you may also give on-line via the church website by specifying your donation is for the Habitat Campaign. Video messages to support the campaign and provide updates of LUMC’s most recent work with local Habitat efforts will be forthcoming.
As a reminder, ALL contributions to Habitat qualify for the Arizona State Charitable Tax Credit. And one advantage of moving our campaign to spring is all donations made by April 15 this year may be deducted from your 2020 state income taxes, provided you haven’t previously claimed the tax credit for last year, otherwise it may be claimed for the 2021 tax year.
Habitat Central Arizona has returned to limited construction efforts due to COVID and is in the final stages of completing a home in Glendale. LUMC has returned to supporting Habitat’s efforts by serving brunch at the construction site. Two brunches have already been served at the site with a third brunch planned. Habitat hopes to break ground on one or two more sites in the coming months, but COVID is slowing the permitting process.
