Well, it’s January 2021. What will this new year bring? Will we finally see relief from Covid 19 or will we have something new to deal with? Chances are, we’ll see something new to challenge us. This year I’ll turn 67, Lakeview will be 51 and we will celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, and some graduations into eternity with God. The Bible has much to say about new beginnings, here are a few: 1 Peter 1:3Praise be to the God and Father…

Tales from the Mountain – December 2020

Pastor John’s View It was still dark but I quietly slipped into Harry’s room and gently shook his shoulder. Is it time? Can we get up? My older brother grumpily mumbled, Go back to bed. Tales from the Mountain Dick and Gail are friends from Trinity Heights and our boys were in Scouts together but the kids were off in college so, along with two other couples, the eight of us set off on a long weekend camping trip with a little hike thrown in – Phantom Ranch at the bottom of the Grand Canyon. It was February and the weather was perfect for hiking, wondrous scenery, great company, and a little adventure.   Just…

Tales from the Mountain – May 2019

Pastor John’s View I knew it was going to be a great camp out when we piled out of the cars at Lockwood Springs to see a black bear loping away from the springs. Lockwood Springs was a favorite spot for Boy Scout Troop 33, and I was an assistant senior patrol leader that year. Boy, were we excited at the rare treat to see a bear! Well, everyone but Lyndall Rhodes, that is. He wasn’t even a tenderfoot, but…
